00:00:11.450 --> 00:00:15.220
Sometimes you may have a video that you want
to play during your presentation.

00:00:15.220 --> 00:00:19.150
Well the good news is, you can add the video
directly to one of your slides, so you can

00:00:19.150 --> 00:00:22.040
share it with the audience without having
to leave PowerPoint.

00:00:22.040 --> 00:00:28.540
To get started, go to the Insert tab… then
look for the Video command on the far right

00:00:28.540 --> 00:00:29.540
of the ribbon.

00:00:29.540 --> 00:00:35.430
From here, you can insert a video from the
web, or one that's saved to your computer.

00:00:35.430 --> 00:00:39.930
In this example, we're going to choose the
second option.

00:00:39.930 --> 00:00:47.580
Next select the file you want… then click
the Insert button… and the video will be

00:00:47.580 --> 00:00:49.160
added to your presentation.

00:00:49.160 --> 00:00:55.160
(If the file size is very large, it might
take a minute to finish uploading.)

00:00:55.160 --> 00:00:59.440
Just like pictures, videos can be moved and
resized any way you want.

00:00:59.440 --> 00:01:08.130
You can use the sizing handles on the sides
or in the corners… and then just drag & drop.

00:01:08.130 --> 00:01:12.710
To preview the video, click the Play button
here… and the timeline to the right will

00:01:12.710 --> 00:01:14.680
start advancing.

00:01:14.680 --> 00:01:21.140
If you want to jump to a different spot in
the video, click anywhere in the timeline.

00:01:21.140 --> 00:01:25.929
Let's go ahead and pause for a second… so
we can take a look at some of the options

00:01:25.929 --> 00:01:28.990
on the Playback tab.

00:01:28.990 --> 00:01:32.619
Here you can control things that have to do
with the way your video is played.

00:01:32.619 --> 00:01:35.560
You can even do some simple editing.

00:01:35.560 --> 00:01:39.909
Say you only want to use part of the video,
for example, not the entire thing.

00:01:39.909 --> 00:01:45.729
You can easily create an excerpt using the
Trim Video command.

00:01:45.729 --> 00:01:49.549
Just look for the little green and red markers
in the dialog box.

00:01:49.549 --> 00:01:53.299
You can click and drag these to change the
start and end times.

00:01:53.299 --> 00:01:58.640
I'm only going to use a few seconds from the
middle in this case.

00:01:58.640 --> 00:02:05.869
When you're done, click OK… and the video
will be trimmed to the excerpt you chose.

00:02:05.869 --> 00:02:10.149
You can also add bookmarks to the video, which
you can use to jump to specific points during

00:02:10.149 --> 00:02:12.090
your presentation.

00:02:12.090 --> 00:02:17.709
All you have to do is click the timeline to
mark the point you want use…

00:02:17.709 --> 00:02:23.360
Then click the Add Bookmark command… and
a little circle will appear.

00:02:23.360 --> 00:02:30.370
You can create as many bookmarks you want…

00:02:30.370 --> 00:02:39.100
Now you can just click each bookmark when
you want to jump to that part of the video.

00:02:39.100 --> 00:02:43.239
By default, when you're giving your presentation,
you do have to click the video in order to

00:02:43.239 --> 00:02:44.960
make it play.

00:02:44.960 --> 00:02:49.430
What if you want it to start automatically
as soon as you get to that slide?

00:02:49.430 --> 00:02:54.520
Just come up here to the Video Options group,
choose Automatically from the Start menu…

00:02:54.520 --> 00:02:56.310
and that's all it takes.

00:02:56.310 --> 00:03:03.599
You can also set the video to play full screen…
loop until you stop it manually… and more.

00:03:03.599 --> 00:03:08.250
Finally, I think I'd like to make some changes
to the appearance of my video.

00:03:08.250 --> 00:03:12.260
We can do that by switching over to the Format
tab.

00:03:12.260 --> 00:03:16.400
These options are very similar to what you
get when you insert a picture in PowerPoint.

00:03:16.400 --> 00:03:21.280
For example, watch how easy it is to apply
a different Video Style, which can add a border

00:03:21.280 --> 00:03:24.359
and other effects to the video.

00:03:24.359 --> 00:03:27.799
Another thing you can do is choose a different
Poster Frame.

00:03:27.799 --> 00:03:32.010
That's the image the audience is going to
see before you start the video.

00:03:32.010 --> 00:03:36.349
In this example, we've already set the video
to play automatically, so the poster frame

00:03:36.349 --> 00:03:38.299
doesn't really matter.

00:03:38.299 --> 00:03:44.019
It's something to keep in mind, however, if
you're going to be playing your video manually.

00:03:44.019 --> 00:03:46.190
So I think we're all set.

00:03:46.190 --> 00:03:51.939
To preview the video, why don't we start the
presentation from the very beginning?

00:03:51.939 --> 00:03:56.690
There, that looks great!

00:03:56.690 --> 00:04:01.439
As you can see, you don't have to be an expert
to add or edit videos in PowerPoint.

00:04:01.439 --> 00:04:05.209
You just have to know how to use the tools,
and you can do all kinds of interesting things!
