00:00:09.469 --> 00:00:13.240
Sometimes you may have a video that you want
to play during your presentation.

00:00:13.240 --> 00:00:17.150
Well the good news is, you can add the video
directly to one of your slides, so you can

00:00:17.150 --> 00:00:20.029
share it with the audience without having
to leave PowerPoint.

00:00:20.029 --> 00:00:26.529
To get started, go to the Insert tab… then
look for the Video command on the far right

00:00:26.529 --> 00:00:27.529
of the ribbon.

00:00:27.529 --> 00:00:33.260
From here, you can insert a video from the
web, or one that's saved to your computer.

00:00:33.260 --> 00:00:38.140
In this example, we're going to choose the
second option.

00:00:38.140 --> 00:00:45.449
Next select the file you want… then click
the Insert button… and the video will be

00:00:45.449 --> 00:00:47.020
added to your presentation.

00:00:47.020 --> 00:00:53.080
(If the file size is very large, it might
take a minute to finish uploading.)

00:00:53.080 --> 00:00:57.370
Just like pictures, videos can be moved and
resized any way you want.

00:00:57.370 --> 00:01:06.060
You can use the sizing handles on the sides
or in the corners… and then just drag & drop.

00:01:06.060 --> 00:01:10.619
To preview the video, click the Play button
here… and the timeline to the right will

00:01:10.619 --> 00:01:12.600
start advancing.

00:01:12.600 --> 00:01:19.040
If you want to jump to a different spot in
the video, click anywhere in the timeline.

00:01:19.040 --> 00:01:23.600
Let's go ahead and pause for a second… so
we can take a look at some of the options

00:01:23.600 --> 00:01:25.790
on the Playback tab.

00:01:25.790 --> 00:01:29.610
Here you can control things that have to do
with the way your video is played.

00:01:29.610 --> 00:01:32.750
You can even do some simple editing.

00:01:32.750 --> 00:01:37.100
Say you only want to use part of the video,
for example, not the entire thing.

00:01:37.100 --> 00:01:42.920
You can easily create an excerpt using the
Trim Video command.

00:01:42.920 --> 00:01:46.729
Just look for the little green and red markers
in the dialog box.

00:01:46.729 --> 00:01:50.370
You can click and drag these to change the
start and end times.

00:01:50.370 --> 00:01:56.210
I'm only going to use a few seconds from the
end in this case.

00:01:56.210 --> 00:02:03.430
When you're done, click OK… and the video
will be trimmed to the excerpt you chose.

00:02:03.430 --> 00:02:07.720
You can also add bookmarks to the video, which
you can use to jump to specific points during

00:02:07.720 --> 00:02:09.640
your presentation.

00:02:09.640 --> 00:02:15.620
All you have to do is click the timeline to
mark the point you want use…

00:02:15.620 --> 00:02:21.630
Then click the Add Bookmark command… and
a little circle will appear.

00:02:21.630 --> 00:02:29.020
You can create as many bookmarks you want…

00:02:29.020 --> 00:02:36.580
Now you can just click each bookmark when
you want to jump to that part of the video.

00:02:36.580 --> 00:02:40.720
By default, when you're giving your presentation,
you do have to click the video in order to

00:02:40.720 --> 00:02:42.420
make it play.

00:02:42.420 --> 00:02:46.900
What if you want it to start automatically
as soon as you get to that slide?

00:02:46.900 --> 00:02:51.610
Just come up here to the Video Options group,
choose Automatically from the Start menu…

00:02:51.610 --> 00:02:54.270
and that's all it takes.

00:02:54.270 --> 00:03:01.470
You can also set the video to play full screen…
loop until you stop it manually… and more.

00:03:01.470 --> 00:03:06.180
Finally, I think I'd like to make some changes
to the appearance of my video.

00:03:06.180 --> 00:03:10.190
We can do that by switching over to the Format
tab.

00:03:10.190 --> 00:03:14.340
These options are very similar to what you
get when you insert a picture in PowerPoint.

00:03:14.340 --> 00:03:19.200
For example, watch how easy it is to apply
a different Video Style, which can add a border

00:03:19.200 --> 00:03:22.710
and other effects to the video.

00:03:22.710 --> 00:03:26.340
Another thing you can do is choose a different
Poster Frame.

00:03:26.340 --> 00:03:30.540
That's the image the audience is going to
see before you start the video.

00:03:30.540 --> 00:03:34.880
In this example, we've already set the video
to play automatically, so the poster frame

00:03:34.880 --> 00:03:36.819
doesn't really matter.

00:03:36.819 --> 00:03:42.239
It's something to keep in mind, however, if
you're going to be playing your video manually.

00:03:42.239 --> 00:03:44.400
So I think we're all set.

00:03:44.400 --> 00:03:50.150
To preview the video, why don't we start the
presentation from the very beginning?

00:03:50.150 --> 00:03:54.890
There, that looks great!

00:03:54.890 --> 00:03:59.640
As you can see, you don't have to be an expert
to add or edit videos in PowerPoint.

00:03:59.640 --> 00:04:03.459
You just have to know how to use the tools,
and you can do all kinds of interesting things!
