00:00:00.320 --> 00:00:04.970
Google Drive is a lot more than just a
free online storage service. It also

00:00:04.970 --> 00:00:09.789
allows you to create and edit a variety
of different files. For example you can

00:00:09.789 --> 00:00:15.300
create a Google Doc, which is similar to
a file could create a Microsoft Word;

00:00:15.300 --> 00:00:20.870
A Google Sheet,  which is similar to what you might create with Microsoft Excel;

00:00:20.870 --> 00:00:26.950
or a presentation, which is similar to what
you might create in Microsoft PowerPoint

00:00:26.950 --> 00:00:31.520
Creating a new file and your Google
Drive is pretty easy—just click the New

00:00:31.520 --> 00:00:35.250
button, then select the type of file you
want to create.

00:00:35.250 --> 00:00:40.390
In this example, I want to make a document, so I'm going to use Google Docs.

00:00:42.350 --> 00:00:46.570
Your file will appear appear in a new tab in your browser. You can then locate and select

00:00:46.570 --> 00:00:52.379
Untitled Document the upper-left corner
and give your file name.

00:00:52.379 --> 00:00:54.100
When you're done, press Enter.

00:00:54.100 --> 00:00:58.320
If we go back to our Google Drive, you
can do that the file has already been saved here

00:00:58.320 --> 00:01:02.990
and we can just double-click to open it
again.

00:01:03.040 --> 00:01:08.260
You may have noticed that there is no save command, and that's because every file you create

00:01:08.270 --> 00:01:12.370
on Google Drive is saved automatically
as you work.

00:01:12.370 --> 00:01:17.260
One other thing we'd like to show you is
how to create a document from a template.

00:01:17.260 --> 00:01:24.010
To get started, go to www.google.com/templates

00:01:24.010 --> 00:01:29.450
then choose a category, or use the search
bar to find something more specific.

00:01:29.450 --> 00:01:33.540
In this example, I'm looking for resume
template.

00:01:33.540 --> 00:01:38.500
When you find a template you like, click Preview to view it.

00:01:38.500 --> 00:01:43.340
And if you like the way it looks, go ahead and click Use this template.

00:01:43.340 --> 00:01:47.380
A new file will be created on your
Google Drive with the selected template.

00:01:47.380 --> 00:01:53.940
You can then customize it with all your own information to fit your needs.

00:01:53.940 --> 00:01:59.740
OK, those are the basics! You're ready to dive in and start creating your own files on Google Drive.
